POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN TOURISM MANAGEMENT (PGDTM)

Introduction


The Postgraduate Diploma in Tourism Management is a unique one-year program which is tailored to meet tourism market demands. The program has been specifically designed to provide a theoretical and practical grounding in the managerial level in the tourism industry. The program is structured to meet the professional needs of individuals who are both in the formal and informal employment in tourism industry and other related fields.

 

Overall Objective


The Postgraduate Diploma in Tourism Management aims at preparing people who are working in tourism industry but do not have formal qualifications in tourism. The training program will mainly target people who are working in the tourism and other related fields but do not have formal qualifications in tourism.


Specific Objectives


The objectives of the programme are:

  1. Provide students with appropriate knowledge, philosophy, concepts, skills and competencies in tourism management.
  2. Provide students with appropriate knowledge, skills and competencies that will enable them to integrate various parameters (i.e. social, cultural, economic, environmental, technological, political, etc.) in planning, organization and management of the tourism industry.
  3. Provide students with appropriate knowledge, skills and competencies in tourism product-development, tourism service delivery and tourism marketing and promotion.
  4. Provide students with appropriate knowledge skills and competencies in sustainable tourism management and other related resources.
Admission Requirements


The program is open to graduates in all fields except those who have majored in tourism.


Course Duration


The duration of the Postgraduate Diploma in Tourism Management normally covers a period of one academic year.
