INTRODUCTION

The School of Education at Moi University started in 1987 with a single undergraduate degree programme, Bachelor of Education (Arts). Over the years the School has grown to offer five programmes at undergraduate level, two Postgraduate Diploma, twenty M.Phil. and four doctorate degree programmes, spread over the three Campuses of Moi University. The School recently relocated from the main Administration Building to the newly completed NACITTI complex next to the Margaret Thatcher Library. The mandate of the School is to train effective teachers for the schools and tertiary institutions.

VISION

To be the School of Choice in teacher education and teacher professional development nationally, regionally and globally.

MISSION

To preserve, create, disseminate knowledge and develop cultural heritage through quality teaching, research and extension.

STRUCTURE

To preserve, create, disseminate knowledge and develop cultural heritage through quality teaching, research and extension.The office of the Dean's is situated at the Main Campus, 36Km from Eldoret town where the Arts-based Departments are based while the Science- based Departments are located at Chepkoilel Campus. The School has six Departments namely: Center for Teacher Education, Technology Education, both located at Chepkoilel Campus, while the departments of Educational Management and Policy studies, Educational Foundations, Educational Psychology and Curriculum, Instruction and Educational Media are at Main Campus. The departments at Main Campus offer professional education courses to all students in the School while the content subjects are handled by the School of Science and the School of Arts and Social Sciences. The Institute of Human Resource Development also offers courses in the field of Development Studies, Communication and Quantitative Skills, which are compulsory to all students at Moi University.
