The school's Information week and open day was be held from Wednesday 27th to 29th January 2010 on the school grounds. The theme for the event was "Information as an Agent In fostering Unity, Development and Conservation".
The objectives of the event are:
- To enable students to meet and exchange views with professionals in the industry.
- To enable parents, guardians and sponsors to appreciate the knowledge and skills acquired by their wards/dependents.
- To enable SIS alumni to share their experiences with the school and students.
- To discuss with the Alumni the SIS scholarship fund for supporting the needy students.
- To enable industry to appreciate the contribution of the School of Information Sciences and its alumni in the information sector.
Moi University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Richard Mibey officially opened the information week on 27th January 2010 in the School of Information Sciences.
Speaking while opening the information week, the VC emphasized on the need for unity amongst the Moi University community. “We have been able to attain the recent achievements because of the unity we have as Moi University family. We are practical and we will take the University where it should be” He said.
He further affirmed that the university administration will continue to support the initiatives of the School of Information Sciences and that the establishment of MU FM was only but a start for more projects to come for the school.
