The School of law was established in July 1994 as the Faculty of Law. It was renamed School of Law in 2005 following the implementation of the Moi University Strategic Plan (2005/2015). This bold step of starting the faculty was taken with
particular interest in promoting “social justice” and expanding educational opportunities for Kenyans.
The school is located 5 km from Eldoret town along the Eldoret-Nakuru highway.
The School of Law is headed by a Dean who is the administrative and academic Head of the School. Assisting the Dean on day-to-day administrative matters are four Heads of Departments and two Administrative Assistants.
To be a center of excellence in teaching and research, dissemination of legal knowledge and provision of high quality legal services.
Our mission is, to prepare students into competent lawyers of high ethical values committed to the provision of quality legal representation, a robust participation in national development and high sense of public service through a course of study that challenges the intellect, exposes students to practical training and nurtures honourable competition through moot courts.
- To produce quality graduates who are responsible and can effectively serve a changing local and international society.
- To programme the clinical seminars as a medium of conducting research and disseminating the findings.
- To revamp the Legal Aid Clinic as a medium of teaching and provision of legal services to the indigent.
- Establish Law Reviews and journals in specific areas of research.
- To harness available institutional linkages for optimum conduct of research and delivery of legal training to various cadres of legal practitioners.
