BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN WOOD SCIENCE & INDUSTRIAL PROCESSING

 

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

 

a)                   Regular:

 

1.         The University common admission requirements for undergraduates will apply.

2.         A candidate must have passed the KCSE with a minimum grade of B- in the following cluster subjects:

 

       Alternative A                                                                              Alternative B

       Biology                                                      OR                           Biological Science

       Chemistry                                                                                  Physical Science

       Physics                                                                                      Mathematics

       Mathematics                                                                             Geography or Wood Work

       Geography or Wood Work                                                      Any other subject from Group III

 

3.         Admission may also be granted to outstanding diploma holders from recognized institutions provided that such candidates have passed their diploma courses with distinction or good credit with at least one year's relevant  working experience.

 

b)         Mature entrants:

 

Eligible mature entrants will have either of the following qualifications:

 

1.    Holders of Higher National Diploma from a recognized institution with a distinction or credit pass and at least two years' working experience in their relevant field.

2.    Holders of qualifications deemed by the University equivalent to National Diploma and with the relevant working experience.

3.   Candidates with equivalent qualifications may also be considered.

 

Diploma holders who meet the admission requirements will join the B.Sc.  Wood Science & Industrial Processes course in the 2nd year.

 

DURATION OF PROGRAMME

 

The normal duration of the programme is four (4) academic years of two (2) semesters each.  In addition to the normal semester sessions, there is field attachment and industrial attachment carried out at the end of the second semester of the second and third years of study respectively.
