BACHELOR OF SCIENCE DEGREE IN FISHERIES AND AQUATIC SCIENCES

 

Entry Requirements

 

There are two categories of entrants: direct and mature entrants.

 

Direct Entrants

 

In addition to meeting the minimum general university admission requirements, direct entrants from school must have passed KCSE with an average of B in the following cluster subjects:

Biology                              Mathematics

Chemistry                         Biological Sciences

Physics                 OR      Physical Sciences

Mathematics                     Geography

Geography

 

Mature Entrants

 

Eligible mature entrants will have either of the following qualifications:

1.       A minimum “O”-level division II and must have worked for at least three years in a relevant field. Such applicants shall join the programme in year 1

          OR

2.       A minimum of KCSE with an average of grade C+ and must have successfully completed a certificate course with at least a credit pass from a recognized institution in a relevant biological field and must have at least two years working experience in a relevant field.  Such applicants shall join the programme in year 1.

          OR

3.       Diploma holders from a recognized institution with at least a credit pass in a relevant field and at least two years working experience in a relevant field. Such applicants will normally join in year 2 but may be required to take selected courses in year 1.

          OR

4.       Holders of Higher National Diploma (HND) and those with Advanced Diploma certificates in relevant biological field will join the programme in year 2 but may be required to take selected courses in year 1.
