DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY IN FISHERIES

 

Programme Structure

 

The D.Phil. programme shall normally consist of course work, examination and thesis. The minimum units of coursework for the D.Phil. programme shall be 23 units which shall be made up of 17 units of level 9 and 6 units from level 8 courses.

 

·   All coursework shall normally be done in the first year of study for both full time and part time students and shall comprise of core, and electives courses.

·   With the prior approval of their supervisor(s), candidates may be allowed to take at least 3 units of relevant elective courses from other departments within the University.

·   Candidates shall be required to take level 8 core courses unless they show that they have taken the course(s) previously or have taken equivalent courses before.

·   Candidates may specialize either in Fisheries Management or Aquaculture options. A candidate’s elective courses shall be from one option.
