DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY IN FORESTRY

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

 

Common university requirements for admission into doctor of philosophy programs will apply.  In addition to the university requirements, applicants to the D. Phil program in forestry must either be a holder of Master’s degree or equivalent qualification in forestry or related discipline from a recognized university.  Prospective candidates will normally be required to submit a concept note on their proposed research topic together with their application.

 

COURSE DURATION

 

The program can be done either on a full-time or part-time basis.  The full-time program will take three of years of study: the first year will be devoted to coursework, and the rest to research.  Candidates will be required to develop their research proposals within the first year of study.

 

The part time program will take a maximum of five (5) years of study, although coursework requirements must be completed within the first three years of study.  The research proposal must be completed within the first two years of study.
