INTRODUCTION

The School Natural Resource Management located at Chepkoilel Campus was the first faculty in Moi University beginning in 1984. It was started to meet Kenya’s training and research needs in the field of natural resources such as Forests, Wildlife, and Fisheries. Over the years, the faculty has grown to comprise the departments of Forestry, Wildlife Management, Wood Science and Technology, and Fisheries. The School of Natural Resources Management acknowledges that forests, wood products wildlife, fisheries and allied natural resources are essential for Kenya’s development. Following restructuring of the University is now known as the “School of Natural Resource Management”.This is the only School in Kenyan public and private universities offering these degree disciplines in the region. Due to its uniqueness, it attracts admissions of international students. Currently there are students from Malawi, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia, Zimbabwe and Zambia. In addition to the undergraduate programmes in these departments, the faculty also offers postgraduate progammes leading to MPhil and D.Phil degrees.

Our Mission

To preserve, create and disseminate knowledge and conserve and develop scientific, technological and cultural heritage through quality and relevant teaching and research in natural resources; to create a conducive working and learning environment; and to work with the government and the private sector on conserving and managing of forests, wildlife and fisheries on a sustainable basis for multiple benefits to society.

Our Vision

To be a School of choice internationally in nurturing innovation and talent in natural resources (forests, fisheries, wildlife, wood products and allied resources) management and development.
