AWARD OF DIPLOMA

The Diploma in Community Health shall be awarded to that candidate who successfully completes the programme as outlined in the curriculum, and has met all the prescribed requirements for the award of the Diploma.

DURATION OF DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES

The programme will take 12 months and will cover 40 units, which are distributed within three (3) terms. The programme is competence based, and the courses are organized in a logical, sequential order to facilitate the process of learning. The students will be required to undertake an elective course and a research project, which will require close supervision by experienced practitioners and researchers. The course will be implemented using the modular approach and innovative teaching/learning methods.

The courses are comprised of units, which are interpreted as follows:

One (1) unit = 16 hours of lecture Or 32 hours of tutorials Or 48 hours of laboratory/clinical/field attachments practical/Self Directed Learning

Course Coding
The courses are coded as follows:

  • DCH refers to Diploma in Community Health
  • The first digit in coding the course refers to year the course is offered
  • The second digit in coding refers to the logical sequence the course is offered in accordance with the term.
