Welcome to Moi
University. Moi University was established in 1984 as the second public
university in Kenya. Over the past twenty-five years, the university
has witnessed phenomenal growth and development in the number of students,
staff, academic programmes and expansion in facilities. Over that period,
the university grew from one faculty in 1984 to fourteen schools with
different programmes in 2009. The current student population stands
at over 20,000 while staff are 3,253.
The university has played a significant role in producing qualified and relevant graduates for the country. We offer Undergraduate, Masters and Ph.D. programmes in various disciplines. The university also offers some unique programmes such as Tourism, Kiswahili, Wildlife Management, Forestry, Development Studies, Refugee Studies, French, Cultural studies, among others, which have been attractive to both local and international students/ researchers. Our facilities have improved and the university now operates on three campuses namely; Main Campus. Chepkoilel Campus and Town Campus.
To face our current challenges and future projections, we have developed a ten-year strategic plan which outlines our strategic direction. In the coming years we will rededicate ourselves to our mission and objectives, maintain quality and relevance in our programmes, diversify our resource base and enhance our outreach activities.
On behalf of the University, I thank the Government of Kenya for its continued support. I also thank our students, staff and partners for the support they have given Moi University over the years. We are proud to be associated with you as we make Moi University the University of choice in Kenya.
