SCHOOL OF INFORMATION SCIENCES

Bachelor of Science in Information Sciences
This is a broad-based course which recognizes that the information professionals of today are drawing closer together. Final year students take specialist studies in any of the following areas: Information Technology, Archives and Records Management, Library and Information Studies, and Publishing and Media Studies.

Bachelor of Science in Media Science
This programme is designed to produce competent media professionals to work in print and electronic media industry, and also be effective managers of media institutions.

Admission Requirements
For both Bachelor of Science in Information Sciences and Bachelor of Science in Media Science, candidates must satisfy the minimum entry requirements of the joint Admissions Board (JAB). Candidates are selected on the basis of the performance in the following clusters of subjects in KCSE: English or Kiswahili, Mathematics, the best subject from Group III and the best subject from Group IV or Group VI.

Admission may also be granted to candidates who meet minimum entrance requirements of the university of C+ in KCSE with a C in Maths and English/Kiswahili or 2 principals at "A" level with credit pass in Maths and English/Kiswahili at 'O' level.
Holders of diploma qualification in relevant information sciences disciplines may also be admitted directly into Second Year of study if they passed with distinction or credit. Higher National Diploma holders will be admitted in Third Year.
 Admission may also be granted to candidates with equivalent alternative qualifications on the recommendations of the school, subject to the approval of the Senate.

SCHOOL OF BUSINESS AND ECONOMICS

Bachelor of Business Management (BBM) Programme
This programme is designed for the industry. Its main objective is to produce practical and efficient graduates who will contribute positively to the economic growth and development using the relevant knowledge of business and management.
In the firsts and second year of study, the students are introduced to general business courses. In the third and fourth years students study core subjects related to their areas of specialization.
The areas include Accounting, Banking and Finance, Risk and Insurance management, Marketing, Purchasing and Supplies Management, Human Resource Management, Micro-Enterprise Management, Business Information Systems, and Aviation Management.

Admission Requirements
Applicants must meet admission requirements of Moi University and:-

  1.     Have at least C+ (plus) aggregate and C in Mathematics and English Language in the KCSE or its equivalent.
  2.     Be of mature age with working experience in a reputable commercial/administration organization and,
  3.     Have a Diploma in Business Management
  4.     Have at least a C+ (plus) in KCSE or its equivalent Plus at lease CPA 1 or CPS 1 Certificate.


Bachelor of Tourism Management (BTM)
Bachelor of Hotels and Hospitality (BHHM)
Bachelor of Travels and Tour Operation (BTTM)

The overall objective of the BTM, BHM & BTTM programs is to provide students with knowledge, skills and appropriate attitudes in Tourism and Hospitality Management in order to enable them to effectively participate in the development of tourism as an academic discipline and to improve the standards of management in the tourism industry.

Admission Requirements for BTM, BHHM, BTTM
Candidates must satisfy the minimum entrance requirement of the Moi University of C+ (plus). In addition, direct entrance from KCSE must fulfill the following the following further entry requirements:

  1. Must have passed in Mathematics, English or Kiswahili.
  2. Diploma holders from recognized Institutions. Successfully completed relevant courses recognized by the University Senate and must have passed with at lease a credit.

    Mature entry candidates musts have at least one year relevant working experience after obtaining a Diploma or its equivalent.

SCHOOL OF EDUCATION

Bachelor Of Education (Early Childhood And Primary Education)

Admission requirements

  1.     Minimum Mean Grade of C+ at KCSE level or its equivalent OR
  2.     'A' Level with 2 principal and a subsidiary passes in the relevant subjects OR
  3.     A Diploma in ECD from recognized institutions (mat be admitted in the 2nd year of study)
  4.     Applicants with P1/S1 certificates may be considered and will join 1st year of study


Bachelor Of Education (Guidance And Counselling)

Admission requirements

    Minimum Mean Grade of C+ at KCSE or 'A' Level with 2 principal and a subsidiary passes in two teaching subjects OR
    A Diploma in Counselling Psychology from recognized institutions (may be admitted in the 2nd year of study)

Bachelor Of Education (Arts)

Admission requirements

    Minimum Mean Grade of C+ at KCSE or 'A' Level with 2 principal and a subsidiary passes in the relevant subjects OR
    A Diploma in Education from a recognized institution (may be admitted in the 2nd year of study)

Bachelor Of Education (Special Needs Education) - Primary Option

Admission requirements

    Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Public Administration
    Bachelor of Arts in Sociology
    Bachelor of Arts in Community Development
    Bachelor of Science in Counselling Psychology

Admissions Requirements

  1. Mean grade of at least C+ at KCSE OR
  2. Two principal passes and one subsidiary pass at "A" level OR
  3. A diploma in a related discipline from a recognized institution
