A well-provided for documentation unit/library provides a major incentive for teaching, research and outreach activities. Such a facility also contributes significantly to the attraction and retention of quality academic staff
The documentation unit of the CRS is modest but comprehensive. To date, it is claimed to be the single largest and most comprehensive collection of literature on forced migration in East Africa. Its current collection of books, journals and grey unpublished material stands at 4,000. It is re-assuring to note that it is capable of adequately supporting the existing undergraduate, postgraduate and basic staff research requirements. It is stronger in its human rights collection but thinner in other sub-areas of forced migration. More particularly, there is urgent need to step up acquisition and collection of materials on conflict and conflict resolution, peace and security studies that have African relevance.
