| Home | The Centre for Refugee Studies, CRS, was conceived in 1991 as a programme of the Department of Government and Public Administration in the School of Social, Cultural and Development Studies to promote teaching, research and outreach activities in the area of forced migration. It became operative in 1992 with the launching of a one week course on “Refugee Rights and Law” for relevant officers of the Kenya Government and non-governmental organizations. The course marked the beginning of a series of collaborative activities with the Refugee Studies Programme (RSP), University of Oxford, the Nairobi Office of the United High Commissioner for Refugees, United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the British Council and the Ford Foundation.
