The Moi University ten-year Strategic Plan is necessary in the face of emerging educational issues brought about by liberalization and globalization. It will facilitate University response to increasing student enrolment by making them commensurate with the available human resources, physical facilities, academic programmes and financial resources. The Plan is an outcome of an intensive and painstaking process, which was facilitated by commendable teamwork by several stakeholders. The joint funding by the Association Liaison Office for University Cooperation in Development (ALO) project of the USAID through partnership with the University of Pittsburgh (USA) and the Moi University Council is acknowledged. My gratitude to Prof. John Weidman, Prof. John Yeager and Dr. Macrina C. Lelei of the University of Pittsburgh (USA); and the initial facilitation by our guest consultants: Dr. T. Mwololo and Mr. J. Kipngetich. Their invaluable comments and guidance are appreciated. Special thanks to our Chancellor Prof. Bethwell A. Ogot, Chairperson of Council, Dr. Eddah Gachukia and members of Council for their useful insights during the development of the plan. The entire Moi University community particularly the University Management, Senate, staff and students are also acknowledged for their co-operation and active involvement in the preparation of the plan. Finally, I wish to sincerely thank the Change Management and Strategic Planning Committee members under the Chairmanship of Prof. Samuel Gudu, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Planning and Development), and his Secretariat for their commitment, diligence, tireless effort and patience. I sincerely hope and trust that the plan will be actualized as strategized, and that it will draw the much-desired support from our development partners, the government and the Moi University community.
