Future Plans of IGERD (2007-2015)

  1. In the next five years, the Institute for Gender Equity, Research & Development under the MU_VLIR-UOS program, and under the leadership of Gender Equity Project Committee plans to carry out the following:
    1. Develop and implement University gender policy
    2. Increase awareness on gender issues & development in the University and western Kenya
    3. Build capacity for IGERD
    4. Develop & implement curricula on gender and women studies
    5. Promote reproductive health & rights of students, staff and selected social groups in western Kenya
  2. IGERD will also benefit from a CIDA- UPCD program, collaboration by the Department of Fisheries, School of Natural Resources -Moi University and Memorial University in Canada. Local Program coordinator is Prof. Mucai Muchiri and Canadian coordinator is Dr. Anthony Dickinson
    The CIDA-UPCD project will largely include research and development work in three different communities outside Moi University. IGERD will be represented by the Acting Director-Dr. Wanjiku Khamasi. The project will contribute to building capacity for IGERD.
