MOI TEACHING AND REFERRAL HOSPITAL
FUNCTIONS
The Hospital Board of Management was constituted under legal notice No. 78 of 12 June
1998 to manage the day to day affairs of the hospital. It constitute a chairman appointed
by the President and nine others appointed by the Minister for Health.
The Legal Notice No. 78 of 12 June 1998 states the functions of the hospital as:
- To receive patients on referral from other hospitals or institutions within or outside
Kenya for specialised health care.
- To provide facilities for medical education for Moi University and for research either
directly or through other co-operating health institutions.
- To provide facilities for education and training in nursing and other health and allied
professions.
- To participate as a national referral hospital in national health planning.
