a) DEPARTMENT OF MANUFACTURING, INDUSTRIAL AND TEXTILE ENGINEERING

Applications are invited for the following academic positions in the School of Engineering, Moi University.

1. ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR (1 POSITION)

Applicants should be holders of Ph.D degree in mechanical, manufacturing or industrial engineering and be registered as a professional engineer by the Engineers Registration Board. They should have extensive teaching and research experience at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The candidates should have served at senior lecturer level for at least four years and should show evidence of continued research through publications (minimum 4 since becoming senior lecturer) in refereed journals and presentations in national and international conferences. The successful candidate will be expected to teach and supervise both undergraduate and postgraduate students as well as initiate and carryout research in his/her area of specialisation.

2. SENIOR LECTURER (1 POSITION)

Applicants should be holders of Ph.D degree in mechanical, manufacturing or industrial engineering and must have at least four years of teaching and or research experience at university level since becoming lecturer. The candidate should have at least four publications since becoming lecturer and be registered or registerable by the Engineers Registration Board. The successful candidates will be expected to teach and supervise both undergraduate and postgraduate students.

3. LECTURER (3 POSITIONS)

Applicants should be holders of Ph.D degree in mechanical, manufacturing or industrial engineering and be registered or registerable by the Engineers Registration Board. The candidates should have at least two refereed publications and two years teaching experience at university level after obtaining a masters degree in engineering. Applicants with a masters degree in any of the above areas and at least three years teaching experience will also be considered. The successful candidates will be expected to teach both undergraduate and postgraduate students and carryout research in their area of specialisation.

4. GRADUATE ASSISTANTS (3 POSITIONS)

Applicants should be holders of at least an upper second class Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial or Mechatronic Engineering from a recognised university.

b) DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICAL AND PRODUCTION ENGINEERING

1. LECTURER (2 posts)

Candidates who have a Ph.D. degree or its equivalent in the field of Mechanical Engineering. Candidates must have at least four (4) years of teaching and research at University level since being appointed as Lecturer and should have been involved in the supervision of post-graduate students. They must have at least two (2) articles in refereed journal(s) since being appointed. Publication of a book relevant to the discipline by a reputable publisher will be an added advantage. They must have proof of relevant administrative experience, and should have been engaged in active and effective teaching and research work; evidence of continued education such as attendance and contribution at learned conferences, seminars or workshops should be included. They should show evidence of contribution to university life as well as national and international life. They should be either registered engineers or be eligible for registration with the Engineers Registration Board of Kenya. Membership of a professional body such as the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK) will be an added advantage. The successful candidate will be expected to teach at both undergraduate and post-graduate levels, supervise higher degree students, and initiate and direct relevant research projects in the Department. The main areas or specialization required are:

1. Design
2. Engineering Drawing
3. AutoCAD
4. Solid Mechanics
5. Control Systems and any other relevant field.

Those with Masters Degree and have proven experience can apply.
