The Moi University 3rd Annual International Conference was held at Moi university, Main Campus between Tuesday 31st July 2007 and Friday 3rd August 2007. The Conference was officially opened by the Minister for Education Hon. Prof. George Saitoti who was represented in the Conference by Prof. George Godia (Education Secretary in the ministry of Education) on Tuesday 31st July 2007 and was officially closed by the Minister of Agriculture Hon. Kipruto arap Kirwa who was represented by Dr. Wilson A. Songa (Agriculture Secretary) on Friday 3rd August 2007. More info on the Conference proceedings coming soon...

The General Theme of the Conference was: "Knowledge Management Through Research and Innovative Technologies for Sustainable Socio-economic Development".

The Participating schools included: School of Agriculture and Biotechnology, School of Law, School of Information Sciences, School of Engineering and a Cross Cutting Theme which covered multi-disciplinary aspects of the conference.

Over 300 papers were presented at the conference. Partcipanting scholars who presented papers during the conference were from Kenya, East Africa and other parts of the World.

The Conference consisted of five Symposia organized by four Schools and one cross-cutting themes sysmposium as follows:-

1. THE SCHOOL OF LAW

Theme: The Role of Law in the Realization of Sustainable Socio-Economic Development.

Sub-Themes:

  • The place of Law in Technology advancement.
  • Law in Multi-disciplinary Scholarship, Governance and Development.
  • Law and Social change in Africa.
  • Inter-relationship between Law and Society in Globalized Market.
  • Internationalization of Justice: The Influence of International Law in Domestic Courts in Africa.

5. CROSS-CUTTING THEMES

The symposium covers multi-disciplinary aspects of the conference. It covers mainly three thematic areas: gender research and equity development, integrated strategies for urban environmental management, socio-health issues related to HIV/AIDS diseases and other perspectives. Abstracts are invited from any of the three themes as follows:
