GENERAL INFORMATION

Moi University is located in Eldoret, 310 kilometres northwest of Nairobi, the Capital City of Kenya. It was established as the second university in Kenya by an Act of Parliament, the Moi University Act of 1984. The University now operates four campuses, namely: Main Campus, Chepkoilel Campus, Town Campus, and Eldoret West Campus. The total student enrolment now stands at 14,855 out of whom 13,984 are undergraduates. The students are registered in 121 programmes consisting of 40 for undergraduate, 53 Master of Philosophy, 23 Doctor of Philosophy and 5 Postgraduate diploma programmes.

CONFERENCE VENUES

The conference shall be held at Moi university, Main Campus. This is located 35 kilometers south west of Eldoret town, off the Eldoret - Nairobi road.

CONFERENCE DATES

The proposed dates for the conference are:

  1. Tuesday 29th August 2006: Participant Arrival and Registration and Opening of the Conference cocktail
  2. Wednesday 30th August to Friday 1st September 2006: Conference Days
  3. Friday 1st September 2006: Conference Closing and Cocktail
  4. Saturday 2nd September 2006: Departure

PAYMENT MODE

  1. Staff of Moi University may pay through check - off system to the revenue cashier or Mr. William Kipchoge at Main Campus.
  2. Those staff in Chepkoilel Campus should contact Mr. Fred Changwony, the Ag. Senior Accountant for details.
  3. Those in Eldoret Town Campus should contact the Chief Accountant Mr. M. T. Chepkwony for details.
  4. Students wishing to participate should be bonafide as per Chief Academic Office.
  5. Those who wish to pay cash directly may pay at National Bank, Eldoret A/C No: 0102127999200. Banking slip, will be required for registration.
  6. Registration fees should be paid on or before Monday 28th August, 2006.
  7. Those paying for Exhibition fees should pay to the same account. Exhibition space should be identified on or before Friday, 25th August, 2006.

ACCOMODATION

Participants will meet the cost of their accommodation. Participants/accompanying persons will choose their accommodation in one of the hotels listed below. Accommodation requests will be handled on a first come, first served basis, including the receipt of registration fee/hotel deposit.

Nairobi - Eldoret Airport (Return Ticket) = Ksh. 15,000

Taxi fare from JKIA to Wilson Airport = Ksh. 1,500

Travel by Air from Wilson Airport to Eldoret International Airport takes 45 minutes.

Travel by road from Nairobi to Eldoret using buses/matatus takes 6 hours @Kshs 600 through the beautiful scenery of Kenya's countryside across the Great Rift Valley of Africa.

SCHOOL EXHIBITIONS

The five schools will each have a tent to exhibit their programmes. The Dean of Students and the University Library Services will also exhibit. There is provision for organizations that are linked to the participating schools to exhibit for an agreed fee..

EXCURSION ON SATURDAY 2ND SEPTEMBER 2006

There will be organized excursion to the Kerio Valley area covering Lake Bogoria, Lake Baringo among other scenic sites. Those interested should register with Prof. J. Rasowo Tel: 0724-762931. The registrations fee is KSh.1, 500/= this is for transport only.
