The Moi University 2nd Annual International Conference whose theme is "Science and Socio-Economics for Sustainable Development: Challenges and Opportunities in the 21st Century" comes 18 months after the 1st Annual International Conference and partners meeting.
This conference affords an opportunity for Scholars to engage in academic dialogue and dissemination of research findings in the process of nurturing innovation and talent. It also places Moi University on the academic and research super highway, taking up it's students and staff with life-long skills.
The Conference also gives us an opportunity to showcase our unique programmes besides meeting and exchanging ideas with other International universities, the corporate world, our alumni and other stakeholders. Having been rated as the Second Public University in Kenya by an International survey, our main challenge can only be to strive and be the very best, not only in Kenya, in the entire region but also in the world.
Our motivation in research is to give practical solutions to the problems bedevilling the community thus most of our research is community-oriented and has attracted both external funding and University funding through the University Council and Senate Research Committee. This is done in order to actualise our core values and objectives as spelt out in our Ten Year Strategic Plan 2005-2015.
In the next three days that you will be gathered here, it is my sincere believe that you will come up with practical ideas, innovations and solutions to myriads human problems facing our communities in the 21st Century.
It gives me pleasure to welcome all our distinguished guests, Key Note Speakers and Conference participants to this 2nd Annual International Conference and to give credit to organizers of the various symposia and those providing logistical support.
