Deputy Vice Chancellor - Student Affairs,
Moi University

The division of the DVC (Student Affairs) coordinates departments and units responsible for student welfare matters comprising: academic and social counseling, on-campus work study programme, chaplaincy, career guidance, oversight of students’ elections, orientation, leadership training, games and sports, alumni, accommodation, hostels, catering services and student disciplinary. The division has recently managed to automate student accommodation booking and is striving to ensure that there is continuous improvement in students’ welfare matters through automation.
On day-to -day basis, the Deputy Vice Chancellor – Students Affairs is assisted by Registrar Students Affairs and the Dean of Students in managing the affairs of the division.

Brief History
Moi University was established in 1984 by an Act of Parliament (Moi University Act, 1984) as the second public university in Kenya. This was on the recommendation of a Presidential Working Party, chaired by Prof. Collins B. Mackay, which had collected views from Kenyans about the desirability of the same.
