Scholarship Call: MU-DAAD Scholarship: PhD in Biostatistics 2026/2027 Academic Year

Scholarship Call
Moi University, a public university located in Eldoret Kenya and offering world-class training, is pleased to announce Five (5) PhD scholarships under Deutsche Akademischer Austausch Dienst (DAAD) funding. DAAD promotes international academic exchange as well as educational cooperation with developing countries through various funding and scholarship programmes. The scholarships are tenable for applicants from Kenya and Africa region to study on a full-time basis in the 2026/2027 academic year which will commence in September 2026.

 

List of eligible programmes/study fields:
The scholarships are only tenable for PhD in Biostatistics.

 

Duration and commencement:
PhD Scholarships are available for up to a maximum of three years. The scholarship will be initially granted for one year and may be extended upon individual request and receipt of a complete application by using the DAAD Renewal Application form found in the DAAD portal.

 

Application Requirements:
Master’s degree in Biostatistics, Mathematical Statistics, Applied Statistics or Mathematical Sciences (Major in Statistics). The Master’s degree must not have been earned more than Six (6) years ago.
The candidate must meet the minimum requirement for admission into the Biostatistics PhD Programme as stipulated by Moi University.
All interested candidates must have a research proposal in the field of Biostatistics clearly outlining the relevance of the intended research to regional development.

Admission into Moi University PhD in Biostatistics Programme
Proof of admission into the Moi University PhD in Biostatistics Programme will be a requirement for the award of this scholarship.

 

NOTE that in addition to applying for this scholarship, you are also required to apply for admission into Moi University PhD in Biostatistics Programme latest by 28th February 2026 for your admission to be processed. Scholarship Call: For Master of Education (In-Country/In-Region DAAD Scholarships 2026 - CERMESA)

Call for Application: Student Mobilities (Student Exchange) at Østfold University College, 2026

 

Interested students are invited to apply for limited mobilities (student exchange) offered to: 

  • Bachelor of Education (Arts) students,
  • Bachelor of Arts with Education students and
  • Any other Education undergraduate students taking Arts based teaching subject specializations
  • Masters in Education students that have cleared their course work

 

The mobility is for Six (6) Months from January to June, 2026.

 

Selection Criteria

The selection of the students will be done based on the following criteria:

  1. Motivation letter explaining the drive to student exchange for academic and/or research pursuit.
  2. Curriculum Vitae with brief Bio-Data, phone and email contacts and academic achievements.
  3. Academic progress record from the department.
  4. The flexibility and the ability of the student to stay in a foreign country as explained in the motivation letter
  5. Copy of passport
  6. Applicants must be continuing students as at the time of the mobility

Partial Scholarship for 2024/25: MSc & PhD in Energy Studies

 

Moi University, School of Engineering won a bid for funding of postgraduate training in Mechanical Engineering programs by African Development Bank (AfDB) in 2017/18 academic year, through the Ministry of Education, Science & Technology for capacity building. These programs are:

 

  1. Master of Science in Energy Studies,
  2. Master of Science in Sustainable Energy & Energy Access
  3. Doctorate Degree in Energy Studies.

 

The Moi University through the Department of Mechanical, Production & Energy Engineering hereby invites applications from the continuing students of the mentioned programs to be supported during 2025/2026 Academic year.

 

To be considered, the applicant must have:

 

  1. successfully passed coursework & defended research proposal at School Graduate Studies Committee,
  2. be actively engaged with research work as evidenced by latest Research Progress Form duly signed by the supervisors.
  3. be currently working in Public University, Public Technical Training Institution’s, Government Line Ministries and State Corporations and other Public Sectors.

 

 

The scholarship will cover part of tuition fees and research activities. The scholarship will not cover journal subscriptions and the subsistence costs.
The duly filled Scholarship Application Form and the supporting documents should be sent to the undersigned not later than 15th April, 2025.

Call for Application: NORSTIP scholarship

 

The Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU) and the Norwegian Directorate for Higher Education and Skills (HK Dir) are pleased to announce a call for applications for the NORSTIP scholarship. The scholarship exclusively intended for students from selected NMBU partner institutions who wish to pursue a master’s degree in certain fields of study at NMBU. The scholarship is valid for studies starting in autumn 2025.

Who can apply?

To be eligible for the scholarship, you must fulfil the following criteria:

  1. Be an employee or former student of Moi University
  2. Have a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Economics, Agriculture or Environmental Science.
  3. Not posses a master’s degree prior to this scholarship
  4. Be between the ages of 20-30
  5. Be a citizen of and reside in Kenya

 

To be awarded the scholarship, you must also be formally accepted to the Master’s program at NMBU. Admission to the master’s programmes at NMBU will require:

 

  1. A first degree (a bachelor's degree) in a relevant field. To be admitted to most programmes of study, applicants must have a relevant bachelor’s degree with a grade point average of at least First-Class Hons or Second-Class Upper Division.
