In commemoration of World Environment Day, Project Digital Impact Foundation, a student-led organization based at Moi University, held a tree planting ceremony on 5th June 2025. The initiative saw members and volunteers gather around Hostel K, where they successfully planted 50 trees, affirming their commitment to environmental conservation and contributing to a greener, more sustainable future.
Participants included active members of the Foundation: Mary Mungai, Azaneth Koech, Keddy Githinji, Grace Mwema, Briviern Jumba, Ruth Shayo, Natalie Okello, Cynthiah Mulwo, Elizabeth Nyamotai, Said Katana, Stephene Ouma, Vivian Mbugua, Wayne Ishmael, John Gitau, Elnas Atoo, and a number of dedicated volunteers. Their united effort symbolized a collective stand for climate action and youth-led environmental responsibility.
Building on this momentum, the Foundation, in collaboration with the School of Information Sciences - Moi University, organized an event titled "Youth on Sustainable Practices" on 7th June 2025. This two-part event involved a clean-up exercise at the school’s residential area and nearby shopping center (Stage), followed by interactive discussions on pressing topics such as sustainability, climate action, mental health, and innovative solutions for a sustainable future.
The event was organized and facilitated by a passionate team of Project Digital Impact Foundation members: Mary Mungai, Natalie Okello, Cynthiah Mulwo, Susan Khasoa, Vivian Mbugua, Keddy Githinji, Said Katana, Eugene Makau, Stephene Asewe, Elizabeth Nyamotai, Azaneth Koech, Grace Mwema, Briviern Jumba, Ruth Shayo, Stephene Ouma, Wayne Ishmael, John Gitau, Elnas Atoo, Laura Paulette, and Silvestine Maina.
The program drew participation from key stakeholders including Wastrack Africa, Smart Afrogrics, UNESCO Youth Forum, and a KESA representative, alongside over 60 students from Moi University, all rallying behind the call for youth-led sustainable development.
These activities mark a strong statement from Moi University youth — that sustainability, mental well-being, and environmental justice are not just global concerns, but also local responsibilities
