Moi University hosts International CoNeMEsSA Workshop II on Epidemiological Modeling

conemessa workshop IIOn Monday, 15th September 2025, Moi University hosted the second CoNEMesSA Workshop, which was officially opened by the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kiplagat Kotut.

The five-day workshop themed "Advancing Epidemiological Modeling and Optimal Control Strategies for Diseases Transmission in the Technological Era" features lecture series, scientific talks, and doctoral student presentations. It brings together international partners including the Technical University of Munich (TUM), Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) and Moi University.

Discussions focus on integrating genomics, artificial intelligence, and advanced mathematical models to address emerging diseases such as antimicrobial resistance and climate-sensitive infections. The workshop also emphasizes collaborations, policy engagement, and the sustainability of research networks in epidemiology and disease control.

About CoNeMesSA
The Competence Network Mathematical Epidemiology for Sub-Saharan Africa (CoNeMesSA) is a DAAD funded project under the DAAD -SDG Partnerships framework. It is a collaboration between the Technical University of Munich (Germany), Moi University and Masinde Muliro University of Science & Technology (Kenya), University of Lagos (Nigeria) and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology (Ghana). The project brings together expertise in mathematical and statistical sciences to strengthen teaching, mentoring, and research in epidemiological modeling across Sub-Saharan Africa.
