For the umpteenth time, Moi University as proved to be the Centre of excellence in matters Innovation and technology after it scooped coveted awards at the Eldoret ASK (Agricultural Society of Kenya) Show which came to a stop on Saturday, March 9th 2019. The University, through its exhibitions, trounced other exhibitors after it clinched number one position as the best manufacturer and distributor of telecommunication devices, equipment and services providers. Additionally, Moi University’s stand won the second best university stand award and also netted another award as the third best stand that represented best the Exhibition theme dubbed “Promoting Innovation and Technology in Agriculture and Trade”.
The trophy, awarded by Mwangi Kiunjuri, the Cabinet Secretary (CS) Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Irrigation was received by Ms. Patricia Cheramboss, the University Ag. Head of Public Relations on behalf of the University. Rivatex East Africa Ltd. (REAL), a textile industry affiliated to Moi University, carried the day as the best stand in commercial and industrial trade. The award was received by Rivatex Managing Director (MD) Prof. Thomas Kipkurgat.
The Moi University stand was a beehive of activities with throngs of secondary school students, parents and stakeholders visiting the stand to make acquaintance with the variety of courses that are on offer at the University. The highlights of the show was the overwhelming number of students who were awed by the array of displays on new agricultural innovations by students from the School of Engineering and a visit by the Dr. Andrew Tuimur Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Irrigation.
The show whose doors opened on Wednesday, March 6th, 2019 was officially opened by the CS for Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Irrigation on Friday, March 8th, 2019. He underscored the need for farmers to embrace technology in agriculture to learn new rich information that will improve their yields. The 94th Eldoret National Show aimed at exhibiting rich information on current business practices, give career advises to local farmers and offering financial advice to all the participants.
