Vice-Chancellor ushers in first years at College of Health Sciences

first years at College of Health of Sciences2Moi University Vice Chancellor Prof. Isaac. S. Kosgey graced the orientation ceremony of the first years at the College of Health Sciences on Wednesday, 3rd April, 2019 at the M.E.C.C Hall. The Vice Chancellor entourage to the hall was flanked by the Principal, College of Health Sciences - Prof. Paul Ayuo, D.V.C Academics, Research and Extension - Prof. Isaac Kimengi, D.V.C Student affairs - Prof. Nathan Ogechi, Acting D.V.C Finance - Prof. Daniel Tarus and other eminent members within the top echelons of the University administration.

In his opening remarks, the Vice Chancellor warmly welcomed the first years to Moi University family terming them as the ‘freshmen’ and congratulated them for being the top crème in their Secondary Level examination. “It is my humble duty to preside over this solemn occasion of ushering in the new members of Moi University as I congratulate them for making it to this great institution of higher learning”. He said.

Speaking during the event, the Vice Chancellor said that the University was dedicated and committed to provide a conducive learning environment to model the new students the best way possible but on the promise of their cooperation. He exhorted the students to engage harmoniously with the university staff regardless of their ethnic extraction. He too sensitized the first years on the scourge of HIV/AIDS, drugs abuse and other unscrupulous aspects that are part of students’ lifestyle urging them to direct that energy into positive extra-curricular activities.

Additionally, Prof. Isaac Kosgey was optimistic about nipping in the bud the emotive missing mark mishap that has been a thorn in the flesh in the University for many years but on the caveat that students attend classes and do their examinations. He also averred that plans were afoot to introduce The School of Pharmacy to be housed in the PDN Building at the College of Health Sciences.

On his part, the D.V.C Academics, Research & Extension, Prof Isaac Kimengi began by appraising the first years on the genesis of Moi University and lauded its altruistic leadership who have seen to it that Moi University has become a force to reckon with in the field of Academia. He too cautioned the first years from engaging in matters inconsistent with the rules and regulations that govern the student stay at the University.first years at College of Health of Sciences1
