First Year Virtual Orientation Programme

1900by800 orientation Dates1Orientation involves first year students getting acquainted with Moi University and all the key elements that will be important during their studying period as they pursue the course of choice. This has traditionally been an in-person engagement however in light of COVID – 19 pandemic, the orientation will be conducted online (or virtual). 

The Virtual orientation will be conducted via Microsoft Teams platform beginning Monday 14th – 18th September 2020. On the 4th day, the students will be addressed in their various schools by the respective Deans.View the Orientation programme below:

All first year students are expected to participate in the virtual orientation. 
To join the Virtual Orientation sessions via Microsoft Teams: 

  • Ensure you have a device such as a laptop, desktop, tablet or smartphone that is connected to a stable internet. 
  • If using a smartphone, ensure Microsoft teams app is installed. If using laptop or desktop, you can join using Microsoft Teams app or via the web browser preferably Chrome or Microsoft edge. 
  • Click the links indicated in the Orientation Schedule for the respective sessions, you will be taken to a page where you can choose to either join on the web or download the desktop app. If you already have the Teams app, the session will open there  automatically. 

For best virtual orientation experience, adhere to the following: 

  • Stable internet connection 
  • Be at a location with minimal disturbance or interruption and good lighting 
  • Use earphones or headphones. 
  • Turn off your camera and mute microphone when not talking and vice versa when talking. 
  • Make use of the chat feature to participate during the session 
  • Ensure you join the sessions a few minutes to start time. Check the programme for the time.
