Moi University and Ghent University are working on a collaborative research that will ensure the University harvests excellent quality apples in the coming months. The areas of research are; Integrated Pest and Pollinator Management (IPPM), botanical products against nematodes (root lesion), safe pollinators, bees and natural enemies. The collaborative research will also encompass community outreach. The research comes at a prime time when the University is venturing to Apple Farming as an Income Generating Activity and well as contributing to the National Food Security of the Country. Moi University is the only University in Eastern Africa that has ventured into Apple Farming. Professor Guy Smagghe from Ghent University visited Moi University Main Campus to initiate the collaboration proposal on the Integrated Pest and Pollinator Management (IPPM).
