On the morning of December 14th, local time in Kenya, the "Chinese Ambassador Scholarship Award Ceremony and Ask the Chinese Ambassador" physical event was held at Moi University. Zhou Pingjian, Chinese Ambassador , Kenya, Prof. Kimengi, the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Moi University, Wei Qunshan, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at Moi, and representatives of teachers and students of Moi University attended the event.
On behalf of Moi University, Prof Kimengi welcomed the ambassador and expressed his gratitude to the Chinese government for its assistance in the development of education in Kenya.
Ambassador Zhou Pingjian presented awards to the winners of the "Chinese Ambassador Scholarship" and delivered a speech. Ambassador Zhou said that today is the anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Kenya. Over the past 59 years, the two countries have treated each other with sincerity, equality and mutual benefit, mutual support, and a win-win co-operation. The friendly co-operation in various fields has achieved fruitful results and has truly benefited the two people. The 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China held not long ago drew a grand blueprint for China's future development. The new Kenyan government is starting to implement comprehensive governance. The two countries will celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations next year. The development of China-Kenya comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership has broad prospects. China has embarked on a new journey of comprehensively building a modern socialist country and comprehensively promoting the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation with Chinese-style modernization, bringing great opportunities to the world. China vigorously implements the strategy of rejuvenating the country through science and education, strengthens the support of human resources for modernization, and is willing to deepen exchanges and cooperation with the Kenyan side in the field of education and humanities, so as to continuously enrich the connotation of China-Kenya relations. It is hoped that young students will strive to be ambassadors of China-Kenya friendship.
