Moi University innovation of a Moisture Meter and Cobbed Maize Dryer Moi University innovation of a Moisture Meter and Cobbed Maize Dryer 2021-10-25 - Moi University, through a collaboration with the University of Kassel in Germany, came up with an innovation of a Moisture Meter and Cobbed Maize Dryer to address the losses maize farmers face during the post-harvest season. The masterpiece invention christened “Etemo Dryer” after the inventor, Dr. Isaiah Etemo Muchilwa, was launched on Friday 22nd October 2021 in Kitale, Trans-Nzoia County. cue visit 2Moi University has obtained green light from the Commission of University Education to offer one of its kind PhD program in Industrial engineering at the school of engineering. The three-year PhD program was developed with the support from the Belgian Development Cooperation under the VLIR-UOS Programme at the University. The PhD program is structured around course work and research thesis model. The program offers students five options for specialisation, which include industrial innovation and development, manufacturing systems and processes, sustainable energy and environment, industrial management as well as engineering materials and technology. cue visit 1The PhD program has also benefited from international collaborations and scholarships for student support. The current international organisations extending scholarship support to the PhD program include DANIDA through the Innovation and Renewable Electrification in Kenya (IREK) project as well as the Africa Development Bank (AfDB).

Brief History
Moi University was established in 1984 by an Act of Parliament (Moi University Act, 1984) as the second public university in Kenya.
