VC Calls for Partnership in hosting Sports Workshop

IMG 9302Vice-Chancellor Prof. Isaac S. Kosgey has called for more partners to join hands with Moi University in organizing a sports workshop and marathon aimed at sensitizing athletes on investment, scholarship and doping control.
Further, the workshop will focus on athletes’ social life and their retirement plan. The three-day event is slated to run from December 5 to 8, 2018. The marathon will be conducted separately next April.
The VC made the appeal in a meeting he held in his office at Main campus with a delegation from Sweden and the County Government of Uasin Gishu on Thursday November 8, 2018.
The delegation comprised Ms. Sara Meyer, CO International Relations in the Municipality of Norrkoping, Sweden, Ms. Fatima M. Higander, Ambassador for Trade and Investment in the Municipality of Norrkoping and Ms. Mary Njogu, CEC Environment, Water, Natural Resources, Tourism and Wildlife Management, Uasin Gishu County.
Dr. Peter Rutto, Registrar for Planning, was in attendance.
The discussion delved into the collaboration between Moi University, Uasin Gishu County and the Municipality of Norrkoping in promotion of sports in the country.
Prof. Kosgey urged all the eight North Rift Economic Bloc (NOREB) counties to be involved in organizing the upcoming marathon being sponsored by Uasin Gishu County and the Municipality of Norrkoping. The marathon will be held on April 28, 2019.
The discussion also focused on the rehabilitation of Kesses Dam to be a tourist attraction site. Uasin Gishu County Government has already built an ablution block at the Dam and is in the process of constructing a safety tank.
The VC hailed the current working relationship between Moi University and Uasin Gishu County, and called for more sponsors to come on board to fund the sporting activities.
